Family group decision making (FGDM) is a practice that recognizes that a family has the best understanding of how to care for its members. FGDM is a voluntary service and offers families the opportunity to come together to make decisions on keeping their children safe.
How the Program Works
FGDM helps to keep families together and assists in identifying the strengths and creative solutions to problems they may face. The family has the opportunity to invite their friends, extended family members, and service providers to a meeting. The goal of the meeting is to develop a plan that will help the family to stay together and stay safe, while using various social services and developing strong relationships in the community.
